This solenoid is a "24 volt, energized to run solenoid".
Most of the time when a 24 volt electrical system was used it was associated with a military design/unit.
This item is number 1 on the Lister Petter drawing and in the military parts breakdown you'll see that this part is item # 93.
The LPA, LPWG LPW/S/T engines were used in numerous pieces of equipment including US Military applications such as generators and hydraulic pacs. most of these designs utilized a 24 volt system.
